Let’s take a look at the course…
Our First Responder Spill Training Course is an advanced in-person training session designed to equip your team with the knowledge, awareness, and practical skills needed to respond safely and effectively to emergency spill incidents.
Ideal for employees who may be the first on the scene, this comprehensive 2 hour and 40-minute course covers the health and environmental risks associated with spills, emergency response actions, and relevant UK pollution legislation. Led by experienced professionals, it offers the perfect balance of in-depth theory and practical exercises to ensure delegates leave confident and prepared.
The course is suitable for up to 12 attendees per session, and can be delivered either at our training centre in Rotherham or at your own premises (provided suitable space is available).
What to expect:
The session begins with a strong theoretical foundation covering environmental responsibilities, relevant legislation, spill product types, and personnel safety. Delegates will gain a clear understanding of their legal and moral duties during a spill incident, alongside strategies to contain, clean, and safely dispose of hazardous materials.
This is followed by a hands-on practical simulation, where participants will be involved in deploying site-relevant spill response equipment in a realistic scenario. The aim is to reinforce quick-thinking, safety-first responses and demonstrate techniques to minimise the spread of liquid – particularly preventing it from entering drainage systems.
A brief legislative synopsis is also provided, covering both individual and corporate responsibilities under UK pollution laws.
